Waiting at the airport. Feeling delighted with my headphone purchase and with a very positive online chat with Optus.
Arrived at LA a little after 2pm on Wednesday, and after 2 hours of getting through immigration caught the hotel shuttle to my hotel, the Wingate by Wyndham. This was my room for the night.
It’s near the airport. Not the nice part of town.
My car for the Desert Canyons Road Trip of 2015. It’s a Toyota Camry and I quite enjoy driving it.
I finally made it out of LA and away from the city traffic. I had planned to drive to the Joshua Tree National Park via the south, but took the advice of a road sign suggesting I exit the freeway at exit 117 and get onto Route 62. Suddenly no traffic. Time to turn off the GPS and follow the signs.
Here are some photos of the Joshua Tree National Park.
It was really delightful to drive through that place.
Lunch was at Denny’s Restaurant at 29 Palms. Denny’s is a USA wide franchise chain. They are really good. My lunch was a Rib Eye Steak Cobb Salad.
Yum.
My accommodation for the night was The Romans at Kingman Arizona.
First day done.
Day 2
Excellent night’s sleep, and I am now breakfasted and ready to go.
This is the restaurant and bar. Breakfast was good. Mental note: eggs sunny side up means the eggs will be runny, really runny. Unset albumen. Thank goodness for ketchup.
Some pick of the hotel.
